CASE STUDIES

CASE STUDY - TOWNHOUSE, FAIRLIGHT

Thoughts from the homeowner

“We were keen to install a solar and a battery system to cut down on our rising utility bills. However, living in a townhouse in Fairlight with limited roof space, we received mixed advice about whether the investment would be worthwhile.

Despite the uncertainty, we went ahead and installed a 5 kW solar system along with a Tesla Powerwall 2 battery.  Even with a small setup, our electricity bills have dropped to nearly zero, as we can top up the battery from the grid using super off-peak rates, which are currently free!

Now that we have the solar and battery in place, we look forward to transitioning our car to an EV, and swapping out the gas cooktop for induction.  Unfortunately, electrifying our hot water remains challenging due to limited space available for a tank; our final hurdle before we can disconnect the gas supply!”
